 20.12.06   Five newbuildings for Hapag-Lloyd in 2007 
In 2007, Hapag-Lloyd will integrate three newbuildings into its fleet, enabling it to keep pace with the expected growth in global container transport.

Freight rates have come under pressure in recent months with the entry of new players into the North Atlantic market. Moreover, costs, particularly for charters, bunkering and additional security measures, have risen.

 31.10.06   Grand Alliance reduces Trans Pacific capacity in slack season 
The Grand Alliance (GA) member lines engaged in the Trans Pacific trade, Hapag-Lloyd (HL), Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), have announced a reduction of the capacity during the traditional slack season.

 20.10.06   Grand Alliance Restructures Asia / North Europa EU2 Service 
<P>The Grand Alliance member lines, Hapag-Lloyd (HL), MISC Berhad. (MISC), Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) have announced the restructuring of the Asia/North Europe EU2 service from early 2007. </P>

 06.10.06   Hapag-Lloyd expanding service to West Africa  
The Hamburg-based shipping line Hapag-Lloyd is increasing its involvement with West Africa. It is establishing its own service linking Dakar and Tema in West Africa and Hamburg, Amsterdam and Southampton in Europe at the end of the year.

 13.09.06   Ulrich Kranich appointed Human Relations Executive 
The Supervisory Board of Hapag-Lloyd AG has appointed Ulrich Kranich, member of the Hapag-Lloyd AG Executive Board, Human Relations Executive with immediate effect.

 01.09.06   Dual-Purpose Ship 
In Hamburg, one of the largest training ships in the world, the “Chicago Express”, has for the first time taken a group of future officers on board – eight nautical officer cadets have reported for duty.

 30.08.06   Launch of Africa service 
Hapag-Lloyd present on all 5 continents. The new weekly service from Europe to South Africa ist starting in October 2006.

 31.07.06   Grand Alliance and The New World Alliance Announce Joint Asia-US East Coast Service 
<P>The member lines of the Grand Alliance (GA) in the Transpacific trade - Hapag-Lloyd, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), and The New World Alliance (TNWA) - APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd (MOL) - are pleased to announce that from August 2006 they will commence an Asia-United States East Coast service via the Panama Canal.</P>

 24.07.06   New name for Hapag-Lloyd Container Line  
The organisational consolidation of Hapag-Lloyd AG and Hapag-Lloyd Container Linie GmbH (HLCL) already realised in 2005 is now also being effected in formal legal terms in the context of the integration of CP Ships. Hapag-Lloyd AG and Hapag-Lloyd Container Line form a single unit and will operate in future under Hapag-Lloyd AG.

 24.07.06   Ulrich Kranich appointed Chief Financial Officer 
Ulrich Kranich (56) was appointed by the supervisory board of Hapag-Lloyd AG to the company’s executive board with effect from July 1st 2006. He is responsible for the financial area.

 30.06.06   Hapag-Lloyd inaugurates South Africa service 
<P>Hapag-Lloyd, which has so far focused mainly on East-West services, is expanding its African network by starting a service to South Africa in mid-October. </P>

 20.04.06   Hapag-Lloyd joins the Top 5 lines - Integration is proceeding rapidly  
With its acquisition of CP Ships, Hapag-Lloyd now belongs to the Top 5 in global container shipping. The integration is proceeding rapidly. In 2005, Hapag-Lloyd again increased its profit, improving slightly on the record level for the previous year.

 26.01.06   New slot exchange agreement on Mediterranean - US trade between Hapag-Lloyd and ZIM 
Hapag-Lloyd and ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. agreed on a new slot exchange on the Mediterranean - US trade as from mid-Feb 2006.

 25.01.06   Grand Alliance Member lines expand service network in 2006 
The Grand Alliance member lines Hapag-Lloyd Container Line (HLCL), MISC Berhad. (MISC), Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), have announced that they have restructured their service network with a new customer-oriented schedule.

 10.01.06   Hapag-Lloyd Container Line: Expanded management and organisation 
In line with its integration of CP Ships, Hapag-Lloyd is enlarging its globally standardised organisation from three to five regions. The management will also be expanded accordingly with the inclusion of CP Ships executives Juan Manuel Gonzalez, Glenn Hards and Alan Boylan.

 02.01.06   Adolf Adrion appointed CEO of CP Ships 
The board of CP Ships Limited has appointed Adolf Adrion new CEO effective 1st January 2006 following the completion of the acquisition of CP Ships by Hapag-Lloyd at the end of 2005. The new CFO will be Ulrich Kranich, effective 1st February 2006.
