Tatiana Schulte 002 – Burnt Pine Longicorn Beetle - Update

15 Feb 2010

Hapag-Lloyd (Australia) Pty Ltd informs about the AQIS action

We wish to provide an update on the Burnt Pine Longicorn Beetle situation involving the Tatiana Schulte 002N which was required to return to New Zealand by AQIS (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service).
Following arrival of the vessel into New Zealand on the 10th of February , the vessel and cargo has undergone inspection and appropriate fumigation treatment for the presence of the organism to comply with Australian quarantine requirements.
The Tatiana Schulte 002N has now been cleared to complete her Southbound voyage and following her departure from New Zealand on the 12th February her anticipated arrival into Australia is as per below

  • Melbourne ETA : 16th February
  • Sydney ETA : 19th February

The Tatiana Schulte will then continue with its Northbound voyage through New Zealand prior to returning to the United States as per her usual schedule rotation.
During the fumigation of cargo in New Zealand it was required that containers were discharged to enable appropriate inspection and handling. As such a small proportion of cargo to Australia has not been able to reconnect to the Tatiana Schulte and will complete their Southbound voyage on the first available vessel into Australia.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter which was necessary as part of biosecurity risk management for Australia
