Hapag-Lloyd announces additional vessel to the weekly PSW string end of February 2010

The member lines of the Oceania Vessel Sharing Agreement (Hapag-Lloyd, Hamburg Süd, Maersk Line and ANL-USL) will add an additional vessel to the weekly PSW string operating between the West Coast of North America and Australia/New Zealand.
The investment of an extra ship is being undertaken in response to port congestion, schedule reliability and a strong desire to ensure a reliable fixed day weekly service is delivered to our customers.
The weekly Pacific Southwest String (PSW) will utilize seven 2500 TEU vessels calling Long Beach, Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney, Tauranga, Suva (2x monthly), Honolulu (1x monthly), Oakland, Long Beach.
In addition to the PSW string, the Oceania VSA will continue to operate the fortnightly Pacific Northwest String (PNW) with 4 vessels, calling Seattle, Vancouver, Long Beach to Tauranga, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and return via Auckland, Papeete (Tahiti), Ensenada (Mexico) to Oakland and Seattle.
The additional vessel 'Cap Blanche' will join the service in late February as follows:

  • Northbound: ETS Melbourne February 20, 2010
  • Southbound: ETS Long Beach March 21, 2010
