Eurogate Container Terminal - 72-Hour Rule

The recent situation in the European port as well as the current delays of the vessels, lead to a high storage occupancy at EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg.

Especially the export inventory has increased enormously. In order to continue and secure our ability to operate the terminal a short-term intervention is necessary.

Therefore, the terminal is unfortunately obliged to limit the acceptance of export containers delivered by truck to 72 hours prior to the  arrival of the vessel beginning from February 16, 2021. The 72-hour rule refers to the opening hours of the truck exchange and does not include the times from Saturday 12:00 pm to Monday 06:00am.

To keep the additional effort for the truck delivery as small as possible we ask you to prepare a routing plan before you pick up the full containers from your customer. If the container which was planned for arrival falls under the „72-hour rule“ you will receive a negatively acknowledged Status-Request for your routing plan and won’t be able to deliver the container to the terminal.

As soon as the container is not affected by the 72 hour rule you are going to receive a positively acknowledged routing plan automatically and you will be able to pick up the container from your customer and deliver it to our terminal.

If the inventory of empty containers at the terminal exceeds limits, we reserve the right to limit truck delivery of empty containers, as well.

We kindly ask for your understanding in taking these preventive measures to avoid any negative operational deterioration. In case the situation eases and returns to a normal status, the measures will be adjusted accordingly.
