The festive reception in the city hall of Hamburg is one of the biggest honors in the city. Since Hapag-Lloyds foundation in 1847, the company has been an important factor for the city of Hamburg and the port in particular. The company brings important transshipment and has made Hamburg the hub of global trade that it is today.
Even the mayor, Peter Tschentscher said at the senate reception "It is a piece of history of the city of Hamburg" and that makes Hapag-Lloyd as a shipping company especially proud. Having grown with the global economy and several mergers, Hapag-Lloyd is now the fifth largest shipping company in the world and has set itself the goal of being the "number one for quality" in the market. The focus is on sustainability and better quality for our customers in order to continue to be successful for the next 175 years.
