Running for a good cause: 45 Hapag-Lloyd teams participated in Hamburg Relay Race

On Thursday, 29 August, 225 sports enthusiasts from Hapag-Lloyd took part in the MOPO team relay in Hamburg's Stadtpark. All 45 Hapag-Lloyd teams of 5 members ran 25 km, with each runner covering 5 km. Together they demonstrated our corporate identity and our team spirit as one big team.

The "MOPO Relay" took place for the 16th time this year and a total of 1,041 teams participated on the second day of the event. Hapag-Lloyd employees have been taking part in the race for many years. The 45 impressive Hapag-Lloyd teams with their highly motivated participants gave outstanding performances and supported each other throughout the race.

The 'Hamburg-Express' team rocked again this year and took third place in the men's category. The team completed the 25 kilometres in 1 hour, 36 minutes and 47 seconds. This was 5 minutes and 53 seconds faster than last year and broke their own record. Hapag-Lloyd also rocked the women's category this year. The ‘Rainbow Express’ team took second place. The team completed the 25 kilometres in 2 hours, 10 minutes and 18 seconds.

After the race, there was a picnic with all the teams, the organising crew, friends and family. The event is not only about physical fitness, but also about the environment. The entry fees are used to plant trees in Hamburg's city park and to restore the nature trail. Hapag-Lloyd paid the registration fee and provided the tent and catering.
