Breaking the million mark: Hapag-Lloyd’s charter fleet reaches new heights

Hapag-Lloyd has achieved a significant milestone in its fleet expansion journey! Mid February, the addition of the 2,433 TEU vessel “Little Concert” (built 2023) to our charter fleet propelled our charter fleet capacity beyond the 1 million TEU threshold for the first time in company history.

The vessel has been chartered from the Greek Ship Owners Minerva. “Little Concert” has phased into the Taiwan Express (TWX) service, operating between Singapore, Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Tanjung Pelepas. With this latest acquisition, Hapag-Lloyd’s charter fleet now stands at slightly above 1 million TEU, a benchmark we are set to maintain as we continue growing our global network.

These milestones mark a new chapter in Hapag-Lloyd’s journey, reinforcing our position as a leading global shipping company. We continue to modernize our fleet which not only enables us to provide our customers transport solutions that deliver on our number one for quality promise but also supports our new Gemini partnership goal for 90% schedule reliability. Last and certainly not least these modern and efficient vessels help achieving our decarbonization target of reducing absolute CO2e emissions by 1/3 until 2030.

This achievement follows another remarkable milestone earlier this year. In January, Hapag-Lloyd surpassed 300 ships in its fleet for the first time, reflecting an 18.7% increase in total capacity in 2024. Our total fleet capacity now stands at an impressive 2.3 million TEU, underscoring our commitment to sustainable growth and enhanced service reliability.
