Hapag-Lloyd Chief Cook wins Seafarer Award for significant contributions to improve seafarer’s welfare

Our Chief Cook on the Yantian Express, Mr. Luvimar Ibay, won the Seafarer Award of the “Mission to Seafarers” which is given to individuals that have made significant contributions to improve the welfare of seafarers.

During challenging times for the shipping industry, seafarers have kept global trade moving, but at a real cost. They have endured limited or no shore leave, extended contracts, and experienced restricted contact with loved ones. Many individuals like Mr. Luvimar Ibay have contributed to make a significant difference and made the life of our seafarers on our vessels better.

“Being a seafarer these days is not easy. Therefore, we are very grateful to have employees like Mr. Ibay on board with us, who make life more pleasant with their daily work and show that everyone can make a difference. This award is absolutely deserved and shows how well our values are lived on board,” says Silke Muschitz, Senior Director Marine Human Ressources.

And if you are now hungry, here are a few impressions of the great cooking skills of Mr Ibay.
