Global supply chains are still groaning, and the pressure on the entire logistics industry is immense. Container liner shipping, in particular, is battling pandemic-related effects: congested ports, massive delays, as well as ship crews that cannot be replaced for months. Ports and terminals, in turn, are under massive pressure due to various COVID restrictions, significantly increased container volumes and consequently overflowing warehouses. Many companies have to reorganize their entire logistics setup due to the ruptured supply chains.
We want to discuss the hardships of the last two years with four top managers from the logistics industry. How is the situation at the moment? How will the industry change? When will the situation normalize? What are the lessons for the future? Ad of course: when will we see normalization again?
In a virtual discussion, our panelists Gene Seroka, Tim Scharwath, Lars Jensen and Rolf Habben Jansen will discuss the difficult conditions in the industry, possible solutions for customers and suppliers and the future prospects for shipping.
About our experts:
Gene Seroka is Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles, the busiest container port in North America.
