Hong Kong - Acceptance of Waste cargo

Please note that the import and export of hazardous or non-recyclable waste without prior permission of the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is an offence under the law.

The same control will be extended to cover the import and export of regulated e-waste (viz. air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, computers, printers, scanners and monitors) as from December 31, 2018.

To comply with the new measure, Hapag-Lloyd will implement with immediate effect procedures to regulate importing scrap and waste into Hong Kong.

We would also like to remind you that as Shipper you are kindly requested to furnish a LOI (Letter of Indemnity) to the Hapag-Lloyd booking office at origin before booking acceptance.
