Vessel Risk Surcharge Announcement - USA and Canada to/from Arabian Gulf

Following our global Vessel Risk Surcharge (VRS) announcement yesterday, we would also like to announce the implementation of VRS for cargo to/from Canada and USA.

Hapag-Lloyd will implement a Vessel Risk Surcharge (VRS) as of August 5, 2019 as follows:

For cargo to/from Canada and USA and from/to and via Arabian Gulf (Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia Eastern Province Ports Dammam & Jubail and the UAE)*

• USD 42 per TEU

* Depending on risk situation, additional countries might be added as well as increase or mitigation of above mentioned surcharge will be considered.

The VRS will be implemented as a result of increased operating costs for our services in the Middle East Gulf region due to recent maritime incidents that took place in the Strait of Hormuz.
