We regret to inform you that on October 2, 2021, our MV Chesapeake Bay V. 2134W experienced very heavy weather while enroute from Durban to Cape Town, South Africa.
We can advise that the crew onboard are fortunately safe and unharmed. However, the heavy weather caused damage to the vessel and containers onboard. As a safety measure, the vessel had to deviate to the nearest port of refuge, Port Elizabeth, where the extent of the damage will be investigated. This vessel, currently deployed in our Middle East India Africa Express (MIAX) service, will undergo repairs before continuing her voyage as planned.
We will continue to keep you updated on further developments as they may arise and we thank you for your understanding.
