Here's an update on Operational Interruptions at Vancouver and Montreal, Canada - Update 7

Here is the latest update to the recent events that have impacted transportation into and out of Vancouver:

Recovery at the Port of Vancouver is underway and efforts to rebalance the supply chain are being made.

Both CP and CN rail lines are now clear and operational.

The backlog in the supply chain remains significant and moving towards full operations will take many weeks.

In anticipation of increased import rail movement across the network, we are requesting that customers pick up containers upon arrival at the destination ramp within free time to ensure backlog improvements continue.

Roads:

  • Highway 5: Closed (long term).

Rail Service:

CP Rail:

  • LACHINE (Montreal): Exports accepted to GCT only (no reefers).
  • VAUGHAN (direction to GCT): Dry exports/empties accepted (no reefers).
  • VAUGHAN (direction to POM): Dry exports accepted (no reefers, no empties).
  • All other CP Ramps: Dry exports accepted (no reefers / no empties).
  • No exports/empties accepted at all CP ramps for DPW Fraser Surrey.

CN Rail:

  • US Ramps: Accepting all dry export traffic (no reefers) and billed empties to GCT or FSD
  • Canadian Ramps: Limited capacity accepted for export loads to GCT or FSD (no reefers / no empties).

Port of Vancouver:

  • Vessel delays, increased yard congestion and heightened anchorage demand continues.
  • Full operational recovery expected to take a number of weeks.

  • THEA Vessels at anchor, or, drifting (berth availability TBA):
    • PN2, ONE Arcadia V58, Seaspan Zambezi V25
    • PN3; Seaspan Beacon V02, Seaspan Yangtze V18
    • PN4; Czech V104, Hyundai Brave V97.
       
  • THEA vessels at Berth, or, berthing: 
    • PN2; Navios Unison V08 (ETB 12/8)

GCT Delta Port:

  • Import CY gate remains open.
  • Limited export receiving and vessel/rail operations.

DP World Fraser Surrey:

  • Limited operations.
