Summary

  • South Africa - Strike called off at Transnet Port Terminals. Port and rail operations are currently under recovery from the delays experienced during the strike.
  • Senegal – No restrictions. Land borders with neighboring countries open (including Mali)
  • Ghana – The transport of essential goods and freight continues, though delays are likely due to enhanced screening measures. Land and sea borders are open for goods and passenger traffic.
  • Angola – Domestic restrictions relaxed. Most businesses allowed to operate with health protocols and restrictions on capacity and opening times
  • Cameroon - Minimal restrictions in place for specific cargo under rule (e.g., rice/sugar/flour etc.) Freight transport via land and sea routes is likely to continue
  • Cote d'Ivoire - The state of health emergency is no longer in force. Land borders are open under certain conditions, cargo and freight transport are still operating
  • Gabon - Land and sea borders are open
  • Mali - Ecowas heads of states lift economic and financial sanctions. Borders are open

Terminal Operations

  • Luanda - Berthing delay of approx. 3 days expected at Sogester
  • Cotonou – Berthing delay of approx.1-3 days expected
  • Abidjan – Congestion reported. Berthing delays of approx. 1-2 days expected
  • Pointe Noire - Berthing delays of approx. 2 days expected for feeder connection
  • Kribi - Berthing delays of approx. 2 days expected
  • Douala - Berthing delays of approx. 1-2 day expected
  • Tema - Berthing delays of approx. 1 day expected
  • Mombasa - Berthing delays of approx. up to 3 days expected
  • Nouakchott – No delays expected
  • Sudan - Fumigation services continue to be on strike. No delays expected
  • Dar es Salaam - Berthing delays of up to 7-9 days expected
  • Durban - Berthing delays expected as follows: Pier 1: 2 days, Pier 2: 4-5 days, DRT: 3 days

Railway Operations

Train service between Johannesburg and Durban is suspended due to various overhead cable theft incidents. The rail network team is currently attending to the incidents and Estimated Time of Readiness (ETR) will be advised when available

Customer Service

  • Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa - If you are placing bookings from countries located in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, online booking amendments will be implemented from August 15, 2022. We have transitioned to an all-digital booking amendment process, and with this step, all email and phone requests have been discontinued. This means that your booking amendments will be processed faster, and you will be able to manage them through our online tool available here. Thinking about your cargo planning, please know that once the amendment has been requested online, the processing time will be four (4) working hours. Please keep in mind that once you place your request, you will not have to send emails or make follow-up calls. 
  • For customer inquiries, kindly use email as your primary channel
  • For vessel/container/booking status and sailing schedules information, please visit our Online Business Suite
  • For Dangerous Goods Cargo terminal gate acceptance, please submit electronic copies of the Export Hazardous Declarations to upload in the DG bookings
  • For faster BL release at destination, please switch from OBL to SWB if possible. If you should require any assistance, please reach out to your customer service documentation team

Middle East - India - Africa Express (MIAX)

  • There will be no sailing from Jebel Ali, UAE (westbound) on December 10, 2022. This arrangement will occur every other week
  • MV Seaspan Lahore V2252W will arrive in Jebel Ali, UAE on December 31, 2022, and AS Cypria V2302W will arrive on January 14, 2023
  • MV Irenes Resolve will berth in Durban, South Africa (westbound) on December 15, and will adjust the eastbound schedule by 1 week from Tema, Ghana, expected to arrive on December 25, 2022

China – Kenya Express (CKX)

  • No updates

Asia – West Africa Service (AWA)

  • no updates

East Africa Service 2 (EA2)

  • There will be no sailing from Nhava Sheva, India (southbound) on December 8, 2022, and from Mombasa Kenya (northbound) on December 22, 2022. All vessels will adjust their schedules by 1 week.

Mediterranean – West Africa Express (MWX)

  • MV Gisele A V2249S/N will call Tin Can before Apapa in Nigeria

South Africa Express (SAF also known as SAX)

Southbound:

  • There will be no sailing on week 48 from Rotterdam due to MV Santa Isabel late arrival from South Africa. Therefore, the schedule will be moving one week starting with MV Santa Isabel V. 225S with ETA in Rotterdam (NL) on December 6. 

Northbound:

  • There will be no sailing from Coega, South Africa on December 13, 2022

West Europe – West Africa Service (WWA)

  • MV Duesseldorf Express V2246N will omit Libreville, Gabon and will leave the service in Kribi, Cameroon, expected to arrive on December 23, 2022
  • MV Dallas Express 2250S will join the service in Le Havre, France, expected to arrive on December 12, 2022, and will make a call to Tema, Ghana, expected to arrive on December 31, 2022

West Africa Express (WAX)

  • There will be no sailing from Tema, Ghana (northbound) on December 11, 2022 and January 1, 15 2023, and February 5, 2023

South Africa – Asia Express 1 (SA1)

  • no update
