Shipping from Brazil? Here’s an update on the Booking Cancellation Fee

On July 14, 2021 we shared an updated timeline concerning the Booking Cancellation Fee (BCF) for Brazil. Thinking about your cargo planning, we would like to explain in detail the applicability of this fee and the timelines for each instance.

Booking Cancellation Fee (BCF): USD 150 per container

• This fee applies to the cancellation of a full booking or a reduction in the quantity of containers of a booking.
• Total cancellation: the fee applies to every container in the booking.
• Container reduction: the fee applies to every container reduced in the booking.
• The fee is applicable if this cancellation or reduction happens 14 to 8 days prior to the vessel’s Estimated Time of Departure (ETD).

Booking Cancellation Fee (BCF): USD 300 per container

• This fee applies to the cancellation of a full booking or a reduction in the quantity of containers of a booking.
• Total cancellation: the fee applies to every container in the booking.
• Container reduction: the fee applies to every container reduced in the booking.
• The fee is applicable if this cancellation or reduction happens 7 days prior to the vessel’s ETD.

In both instances, the number of days prior to the vessel's ETD is calculated from the time when the request is received. Therefore, requests must be submitted before 5:00 pm (Brazilian time) on business days. Requests received after this time will be considered on the first subsequent business day.
