Strengthening schedule reliability: Here's an update on our South America East Coast services

If you're shipping to and from the East Coast of South America, we've got good news for you. As part of our ongoing commitment to enhance network integrity and improve schedule reliability, we're introducing important updates to three of our key services in the Europe and Intra-America trade:

  • US Gulf - South America East Coast (GS1) service
  • South America East Coast (ECX) service 
  • Mediterranean South America East Coast Express (MSE) service.

To further improve schedule reliability and maintain high service standards on our GS1 (US Gulf - South America East Coast) service, we will implement the following structural updates

Santos, Brazil:

  • Berth windows will be adjusted:
    • Southbound vessels will call on Saturdays
    • Northbound vessels will call on Sundays
    • Effective with MV Cape Pioneer V.2518S, ETD Santos, BR on June 7, 2025

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil:

  • This port will be removed from the GS1 rotation to provide over three days of additional buffer and improve overall transit stability.
  • Last call will be MV Seaspan Empire V.2517N on June 16, 2025.

Itajai, Brazil:

  • Itajai will replace Navegantes as a fixed weekly call
  • Provides better berth planning and reduced delays
  • First call: MV Cape Pioneer V.2518S on June 18, 2025

Resumption of weekly calls:

  • Weekly frequency resumes in July and includes:
    • South America East Coast: Paranagua and Itajai, Brazil
    • Mexico: Veracruz and Altamira
    • Starting with MV Cape Pioneer V.2518N / 2528S

Here's the new service rotation of our GS1: 

  • Cartagena, CO → Veracruz, MX → Altamira, MX → Houston, US → New Orleans, US → Cartagena, CO → Suape, BR → Santos, BR → Buenos Aires, AR → Montevideo, UY → Rio Grande, BR → Itajai, BR → Paranagua, BR → Santos, BR → Cartagena, CO

To improve reliability and provide you with a more consistent service experience, we will adjust berth windows in Brazilian ports by adding additional buffer time. In addition, the port of Navegantes, BR will be reinstated to our ECX rotation starting July 2025.

Here's the new service rotation of our ECX: 

  • Rotterdam, NL → London Gateway, GB → Hamburg, DE → Bremerhaven, DE → Antwerp, BE → Le Havre, FR → Sines, PT → Rio de Janeiro, BR → Santos, BR → Itapoa, BR → Buenos Aires, AR → Montevideo, UY → Rio Grande, BR → Navegantes, BR → Paranagua, BR → Santos, BR → Rio de Janeiro, BR → Salvador, BR → Tangier, MA → Rotterdam, NL.

With your cargo planning in mind, we have implemented the following adjustments to our Mediterranean South America East Coast Express Service (MSE):

Montevideo, Uruguay & Asuncion, Paraguay

  • Effective with MV MSC ANZU V.MM521A (loading in Barcelona on May 21, 2025), both Montevideo, UY and Asuncion, PY will be served via Paranagua, Brazil only.

Navegantes, Brazil

  • We are reintroducing a direct port call at Navegantes, Brazil with immediate effect.

Genoa, Italy

  • Starting with M/V COPIAPO V.MM520A, ETA May 18, 2025, the terminal in Genoa will shift from VTE to SECH Terminal

Here's the new service rotation of our MSE: 

  • Barcelona, ES → Livorno, IT → Genoa, IT → Valencia, ES → Suape, BR → Rio De Janeiro, BR → Santos, BR → Paranagua, BR → Itapoa, BR → Navegantes, BR → Santos, BR → Rio De Janeiro, BR → Valencia, ES → Barcelona, ES
