Africa - Revision of Destination Detention Charges

Please be informed that Hapag-Lloyd will revise the demurrage and detention charges in Kenya for import shipments which includes Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Effective December 1, 2018 for all trades and valid until further notice, the revised charges will be as follows:

  • Import Demurrage and Detention (MHD)
  • Storage, Plug in, Monitoring and Electricity excluded / charged directly by the terminal to customer concerned.
  • Calculation commences at 00.01 on the day the unit has been discharged from the vessel.

Remarks:

Kenya uses the combined charge as follows:

  • “MHD” calculated from 00:01AM on the day that containers are discharged from the vessel until the day the empty container is being returned to the Carrier's terminal.
  • “DID” for containers that are sent to an inland depot upon customer's request. It includes the storage.
  • Calculation starts from the unit status “gate in full” at the inland depot until it gates out full from the inland depot.
