Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) - 48-Hour Rule

The ongoing and unchanged bad weather conditions with strong storms in northern Europe in combination with congestions and delays in previous ports are leading to persistent and extreme delays of vessels at the CTA. This situation has a direct impact on the yard utilization, as the dwell time of export containers is increasing constantly. During the last three weeks several internal measures have been implemented by the CTA management avoiding any impact on the daily business/supply chain.

The current yard situation at CTA in combination with the export volume forecast for the next days will now force HHLA to take additional action to keep the operation at CTA running.

With this todays letter we have to inform you that CTA will implement the '48-hours rule' for export containers delivered by truck, means that CTA will not accept any export container (including dangerous cargo units) more than 48 hours before vessels arrival.

This rule will be effectived on early Monday morning, March 2, 2020 until further notice.

A daily update of the concerned ocean vessels will be sent to the forwarding/trucking companies by CTA colleagues directly.
