Canada - Attempted Phishing Scan

Please be advised that one of Hapag-Lloyd (Canada) Inc.’s customers was recently the subject of an unsuccessful phishing scam which we wish to draw to your attention.

The perpetrator of the scam used the format similar to that of an existing Accounts Receivable e-mail instructing our Customer that Hapag-Lloyd had changed our Banking details and that payments were now to go to a different Bank Account not owned by Hapag-Lloyd.

Fortunately, our Customer considered the e-mail to be suspicious and contacted Hapag-Lloyd for confirmation at which point the phishing scam
was recognized and the incident now reported to the Police.

Please note that there has been no change to Hapag-Lloyd Banking details and Customers are advised to check and confirm directly with us (using known contacts) should they ever receive instructions to change the routing of payments. If Hapag-Lloyd ever changes its Bank details you will be advised in a more direct and formal way.

Furthermore if you receive, or have received a similar email please contact our Accounts Receivable department or your known Hapag-Lloyd Sales representative immediately.
