Dakar Express (DEX) – Booking Stop to Mauritania - Update

With reference to our CustomerNEWS dated December 16, 2020 in regard to the booking stop for cargo to Nouakchott, Mauritania, we would like to provide following update.

After the port experienced several lengthy port closures over the last weeks because of high swell, the operation has finally resumed. These frequent port closures have triggered vessel bunching and heavy port congestion. Fortunately, the nation-wide curfew has been lifted and the port operation has been brought back to 24/7.

For the time being the booking stop to Mauretania remains in place, however, we decided to arrange to clear the container backlog at Tangier by arranging an extra sailing to Nouakchott with “AS Selina”, ETS Tangier on March 5th with ETA Nouakchott March 8th.

We are constantly monitoring the developments in Nouakchott and will be lifting the booking stop as soon as the operational situation further improves.

We regret any inconveniences due to above situation, which is beyond Hapag-Lloyd’s control.
