East Coast USA and Canada – Winter Storm “Grayson” - Update

As a follow up to our previous letter of this subject, here is the latest status report on offices, port terminals and vessels within these ports that may have been affected:

Hapag-Lloyd Office Closings:

  • Port office in Savannah is open.
  • Port office in Charleston is open.
  • Port office in Norfolk is open.
  • Regional offices in Piscataway are open.

Port Terminal Status / Closings:

Savannah / Georgia Ports Authority:
All gates at Garden City Terminal open January 5, at 0800 and remain open until 1800.

Charleston / Wando & North Charleston Terminals:
Container gate hours for January 5, from 11 am until 6 pm.
Please also note extended container gate hours on Saturday, January 6, from 6 am until 5 pm.

The Port of Wilmington operated on a 2-hour delay Friday, January 5.

Jacksonville / TraPac:
Open and currently operating under normal hours of business.

Norfolk and Portsmouth:
No truck gates or vessel operations Friday, January 5
Virginia Inland Port – open, business as usual
Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7, all truck gates open

Ports of New York/New Jersey and Philadelphia:
All terminals in New York and Philadelphia are open.

Port of Boston / Massport at Conley Terminal:
Conley Terminal in Boston closed Friday, January 5, 2018. They expect to re-open on Monday, January 8. All imports will be granted 2 additional free days to cover the closure on Thursday and Friday.

Port of Halifax:
Ceres and Halterm terminals open at 1300 hrs Friday, January 5.

Impacted Vessel Status:

The terms of this Notice shall be read in conjunction with and without prejudice to Hapag-Lloyd’s Bill of Lading / Sea Waybill terms and conditions as well as the Hapag-Lloyd tariff applicable thereto.

Based upon the circumstances presented, please take notice that Hapag-Lloyd shall not be responsible for any loss, damage or delay to the subject cargo, or any other liabilities/amounts of whatsoever kind or nature, arising from, related to, or in connection with the referenced winter storm.
