Area India - Port Operations update

As you may have heard, Cyclone Tauktae struck Western Indian ports of Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Hazira and Pipavav last week. While most terminals resumed normal working, Pipavav port operations continue to remain suspended from May 16, 2021 onwards. As per latest information available, the port is expected to resume operations by first week of June. All vessels calling Pipavav have been diverted to nearby ports of Mundra or Nhava Sheva, until the situation improves. In the interim, we are working on alternate routing arrangements for cargo booked or moving for Pipavav which will be communicated in due course.

Meanwhile, India is bracing for Cyclone “Yaas”, expected to hit eastern coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal on May 26, 2021. The cyclone is moving northwards in the Bay of Bengal and expected to make landfall on May 26, 2021 evening between Paradip in Odisha and Sagar islands in West Bengal. Port operations in Kolkata and Haldia ports suspended from May 25, 2021 until 06:00 hrs. on May 27, 2021.

Navigational movements in the Port of Colombo also remain suspended from May 24, 2021 due to adverse weather and no movements carried out at the moment. Due to this, the berthing line up is severely affected, leading to delays in berthing.

We are keeping a close watch on the developments at all these ports and prompt action will be taken to ensure minimal affect to cargo shipments of our customers.

We regret the inconvenience caused due to circumstances beyond our control.
