Paraguay / Argentina - Update Low Water Levels on River

During times of low water levels on the Rio Paraguay river, the service to and from Paraguay continues without interruptions. However the transit time may take longer since there are a few additional measurements taken such as navigating only during daytime in order to avoid grounding and/or stranding.

In addition, river vessel companies are forced to reduce their carrying capacity to 50%.

Due to this situation, the containers must be discharged at the first terminal where the vessel can arrive. Furthermore, River Barge Operators decided to introduce a Low Water Surcharge (LWS) of 200 USD/TEU with immediate effect.

The LWS is an exceptional and temporary charge applicable due to the extraordinary conditions of navigation that will be reviewed week by week and adjusted if necessary, by virtue of the current situation. It will be removed once the sailing conditions return to normal.
