Vessel incident: Further update on MV ESPIRITO SANTO EXPRESS

We would like to provide you with an important update regarding the fire on board the MV Espirito Santo Express, which started on October 15, 2026.

Based on the latest information received via the vessel owner Seaspan we expect the vast majority of the cargo to be either severely damaged by the fire or a total loss. In light of the severity of the incident and the extent of the reported fire damage, we wanted to share these developments with you without delay.

The fire is meantime under control, but it will take considerable time to bring the vessel into a Port of Refuge and assess the damage in more detail.

We very much regret this development and understand that this situation causes considerable uncertainty regarding the status of your cargo.

Once the vessel has arrived in the Port of Refuge and the initial inspection / assessment has been completed we will contact customers whose containers may be salvageable to arrange the necessary cargo surveys.
