Here’s an update for our Indian Ocean Service (IOS)
Following a careful assessment of the current security situation in the Red Sea area, Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk have decided to introduce changes to the Gemini Indian Ocean Service (IOS). This service will transition to sailing via the Red Sea route instead of transiting via the Cape of Good Hope.
The changes will take effect as below:
| Vessel / Voyage | Port | Estimated Time of Departure (ETD) |
|---|---|---|
| Atlanta Express V.644W | Salalah | November 4, 2026 |
| Savannah Express V.644E | Tangier | November 12, 2026 |
Please note that the departure dates are approximate and remain subject to operational conditions.
The Red Sea route is the most efficient connection for these voyages and supports faster transport options for customers shipping between Europe and the Middle East.
The safety of our crews, vessels and customers’ cargo remains our highest priority. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and inform affected customers in case of further relevant changes.
