Installation of the main engine in our first 23,660 TEU newbuilding

Another Milestone was reached at Daewoo Shipbuilding yard (DSME) in South Korea: In the video you can see how the 2,246-tonne main engine of the first 23,660+ TEU newbuilding "Hamburg Express" is deployed with the help of a floating crane.

The maximum power of the new dual fuel engine, which can also be powered by LNG, is 58,270 kW at 76.5 revolutions per minute. Compared to a mid-size e-car with 300 kW, this is about the power of more than 190 mid-size cars combined.

The “Hamburg Express” is one of 22 new ships in our order book. The phase in is planned for April 2023.
