Hapag-Lloyd signs partnership agreement with Boris Herrmann and Team Malizia

Hapag-Lloyd and Boris Herrmann have signed an official partnership contract for five years. The world-famous skipper and his corporate entity operating under the name of Team Malizia has the objective to raise awareness for the issue of climate change.

Team Malizia gained notoriety in 2020 when Boris Herrmann competed in the Vendee Globe 2020 ocean race whilst carrying the message “A Race We Must Win” on the sails of his yacht. During its sailing missions Team Malizia has collected valuable scientific data from the most remote parts of the world to help understand the impact of climate change on the ocean.

“I am extremely happy to get the full support of Hapag-Lloyd. Over the last year we have already developed a strong partnership and I can feel the true ambition of Hapag-Lloyd to become a leader in decarbonisation. It will be a pleasure for me to carry the logo of Hapag-Lloyd on the sail of my racing yacht.”

As part of its strong on-going commitment to the protection of the environment and the preservation of oceans and biodiversity, Hapag-Lloyd has taken action for the past years to significantly improve its environmental impact and to increase efforts towards decarbonisation.

Hapag-Lloyd CEO Rolf Habben Jansen said: “Boris Hermann and Hapag-Lloyd have the same values in common, as together we want to help to find solutions for counteracting the climate crisis. We very much believe that we can achieve a lot together. While Boris and his team will continue to focus on winning races, ocean science and education, we will work hard to help advance and accelerate the decarbonisation of the shipping industry.”
