Indonesia - Revised export booking and documentation requirements

Starting from 01 June 2021 all booking requests and shipping instructions must include the applicable 6-digit Harmonized Code (HS Code) for cargoes loaded in each shipment. More and more countries do require HS Codes and by making this mandatory, our Indonesian customers will be in compliance globally. The HS Code also enables Hapag-Lloyd to identify cargoes that may require special handling or stowage.

Please ensure that the HS Code is accurate and consistent in both the booking requests and shipping instructions that you submit to Hapag-Lloyd. If the codes do not match, shipments may be delayed while we obtain the correct code.

  • Mismatched codes will be subject to a Booking Amendment Fee (BOO) of 400,000 Indonesian Rupiah per document
  • Wrongly declared Dangerous Goods cargo is a serious violation and will be subject to Fines for Incorrect Declaration Origin (FIO) at USD 15,000 per container

All other documentation requirements remain in effect. The HS Code does not replace other required, accompanying documents especially for hazardous cargoes.

Thank you for your cooperation.
