Carbon Tax Surcharge for Canadian Rail Providers

The Federal Government has issued an environmental requirement for all provinces to implement a Carbon Tax by 2018. In response to this requirement, Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National Railway have adjusted their tariffs for a Carbon Tax by province. As Hapag-Lloyd will be invoiced this charge, we are forced to adjust our current Carbon Tax Surcharge to reflect these changes.

The adjusted surcharge will be effective February 1, 2018 and will apply on import and export rail moves within Canada and across the border into the United States.

The charges listed in the below tables are in Canadian dollars per container
and will be charged as a Carbon Tax Surcharge Dest. (BCD) for imports and Carbon Tax Surcharge Origin (BCO) for exports.
