Japan – Kobe Area hit by “TYPHOON #21 / JEBI”

We would like to inform you that due to typhoon #21/ JEBI, our local operations may be seriously impacted, with current status looking as follows:

Our Osaka office, closed whole day on September 4 and Nagoya office, closed in the afternoon same day, have reopened this morning, Sept. 5, 2018.

As of today, the situation of Kobe terminals, located in Rokko Island is as follows:

  • Kobe / WX (JP1): Serious damages to terminal equipment by flooding; full/empty containers are dislocated and flooded.
    Cargo /Gate operation to be suspended on Sept. 5, 2018
  • Kobe / NYKT: Serious damage to terminal equipment by flooding;
    Cargo/Gate operation to be suspended on Sept. 5, 2018

Further details, including the impact to our sailing schedule, are not yet clarified at this point in time. We will keep you advised in due course.

The terms of this Notice shall be read in conjunction with and without prejudice to Hapag-Lloyd’s Bill of Lading / Sea Waybill terms and conditions as well as the Hapag-Lloyd tariff applicable thereto.

Based upon the circumstances presented, please take notice that Hapag-Lloyd shall not be responsible for any loss, damage or delay to the subject cargo, or any other liabilities/amounts of whatsoever kind or nature, arising from, related to, or in connection with the referenced storm.
