The St. Lawrence River water levels have decreased considerably, with latest forecasts by the Canadian Coast Guard predicting further reductions.

We therefore would like to inform you that with effect from January 1, 2019, Hapag-Lloyd will implement a Low Water Surcharge for all cargo moving to/via the port of Montreal as follows:

St. Lawrence Cont. Service – Route 1 (AT1) and 2 (AT2) - westbound

  • USD 100 per 20' Container
  • USD 150 per 40' Container

Mediterranean Canada Service (MCA) - westbound

  • USD 75 per 20' Container
  • USD 100 per 40' Container

We reserve the right to increase these levels on short notice, should water levels decline beyond current forecast levels.
