Canada – Strike at the Port of Montreal – Update

Further to the advisory of a 24 hour strike from Friday July 31st 06:59 through Saturday August 1st 06:59, MGT Terminals have confirmed that they intend to start trucking operations on Friday July 31st as of 07:00.

Operational interruptions can perhaps be anticipated in light of the unpredictable pressure tactics of the Union but MGT operations will prioritize rail and truck activities on Friday, while vessel operations will commence on Saturday.
MGT have requested that to the extent possible, the trucking community focuses on picking up imports in order to ease Terminal congestion.

Please also be advised that MGT will open its truck service on Saturday August 1st and Sunday August 2nd from 07:00 to 15:00.

The waiver of MGT Import storage charges will be further extended through Monday August 3rd inclusively and Hapag-Lloyd will similarly waive demurrage charges during this period.

The Ottawa Express 13W29 and OOCL Montreal 29W29 will be prioritized but the number of gangs available for Operations is uncertain at this point so it is difficult to predict departure times / dates.
Liverpool Express 08W28 will not start Operations until Tuesday.
