Mali - Updates for Transit Cargo from Dakar

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has issued a directive inviting all neighboring countries to close their borders with Mali due to the ongoing political unrest. Only foodstuffs and other medical supplies for humanitarian reasons are accepted for transportation into Mali.

By acts of blocking customs releases starting August 26, 2020, the Government of Senegal has agreed to the above restriction for transit deliveries into Mali.

In case of a force majeure situation, Hapag-Lloyd will be unable to proceed with port clearance and on-carriage to Bamako (Mali) if the cargo description falls within the restrictions for which the Senegal Customs will not grant transit clearance.

We will still accept new Carrier's Haulage Bookings into Bamako from Dakar Port (subject to the prevailing government directives or actions at the benefit or risk of the customer only).

Please be assured that we are closely monitoring the situation and we will keep you informed.
