USA - Carrier’s Haulage Demurrage and Storage

As part of Strategy 2023, Hapag-Lloyd strives to be the premier carrier for your inland shipments. We also recognize that US trucking capacity is fluid and constantly changing.

In the spirit of partnership, we ask that you satisfy the below requirements five calendar days before the expiration of free time to allow proper time for Hapag-Lloyd to deliver your carrier haulage containers in a timely manner.

  • Original Bill of Lading (if applicable) received by carrier.
  • Credit or freight payment received by carrier.
  • DO: Complete Delivery Order/instructions from the customer received by carrier.
  • Customs clearance received with no other regulatory restrictions.
  • Customer facility is able to receive the container within the designated free time.

In return, effective November 1, 2020, and as long as you fulfill each of these requirements, the customer will not be responsible for import storage or demurrage at port or inland ramp related to truck power delays.

As a reminder: import carrier’s Haulage moves are where the carrier is responsible to deliver the full container to the merchant’s premises and pick up the empty container from the merchant’s premises.
