Turkey - Heavy earthquake in Izmir

Last Friday afternoon the city of Izmir, Turkey was shook by an earthquake of magnitude 7.0. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Aegean Sea region only 17 km from Izmir – where our main office is located. The tremors were also felt in other parts of Turkey and Greece.

Fortunately, all Hapag-Lloyd employees are safe and the building where our office is located was not damaged.

Thus, we would like to inform that all our departments have proper coverage and the ports in the region are operating normally. The counter desk in the Izmir office is open and all other offices in Turkey and Greece are open with regular attendance – in line with COVID-19 protocols. Therefore, business can continue without operational issues.

Please find below the list of vessels calling the ports of Izmir and Aliaga this week. You can also view the latest schedule by visiting our website.

At this moment our hearts and thoughts go out to the people of Turkey – especially to all those who have lost family members and friends.
