Puerto Rico – General Strike at Port Terminal

Our terminal operations in San Juan, Puerto Rico have been affected by a general strike that was blocking the import and export cargo operations. This originally started as a Terminal Labor Strike on July 17, 2021 without prior notification, and due to its complexity was elevated to the US Presidency.

We have been informed that the strike has ended. However, our GCS service port calls were affected. The M/V Minerva and M/V Scorpion had to omit San Juan and the containers had to be discharged in Caucedo, Dominican Republic. These shipments will be loaded in subsequent GCS vessels, and we are expecting to resume shipments in the M/V AS Patria. Hapag-Lloyd reserves the right to pass on extraordinary handling costs to be determined at the time of oncarriage.

If you should require additional information, please contact our customer service team at your location who will guide you based on your individual situation.
