Shipping to and from Türkiye and Egypt? Here are your options for the Red Sea situation

The situation in the Red Sea/Gulf of Aden is constantly evolving and remains highly volatile. All indicators suggest that the situation will remain challenging in the upcoming weeks.

One of the most impacted areas is located between the East Mediterranean region and the Middle East, where the new circumstances would require to double the number of vessels to operate a weekly service. Under these circumstances, it has been decided to put our GEM Service on hold until further notice. However, our teams have worked passionately over the last week to establish new routings and alternatives, enabling connections despite these changes.

For exports and imports for Türkiye and Egypt, please find the following connections:

  • With the Red Sea via Damietta
  • With the Indian Subcontinent via Piraeus and Damietta
  • With Jebel Ali via Piraeus and Damietta
  • Exclusively for imports into Türkiye and Egypt via Jeddah and Tangier

These connections will be provided by expanding our network in the Mediterranean with the following options:

  1. We will enhance the ADX service Piraeus from January 2024 adding a fourth vessel to this weekly service with additional calls at Istanbul (Kumport terminal), Izmit (Evyap terminal) and Aliaga, TR (TCE EGE terminal) as well as a second call at Piraeus, GR. All vessels will be fully operated by Hapag-Lloyd.
    • Rotation: Piraeus, GR -> Alexandria, EG ->, Damietta, EG ->Koper, SI -> Venice, IT -> Rijeka, HR -> Ancona, IT -> Piraeus, GR -> Istanbul, TR -> Izmit, TR-> Aliaga, TR -> Piraeus, GR
    • You will find all the related information here.
  2. We have also introduced a new feeder.
    • Rotation: Tanger, MA -> Damietta, EG -> Jeddah, SA -> Damietta, EG -> Tanger, MA
    • Mersin and Iskenderun will be covered via a third-party feeder connecting to Damietta, EG.
    • You will find all the related information here.

If you have questions concerning the above changes, please contact our teams at your location, who will be happy to guide you based on your individual situation.
