*** Update January 12, 2024

As a result of the latest restrictions imposed by the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) and the ongoing strike situation in Australia, our ANP service’s schedule will be temporarily modified.

In Panama, the ACP has instructed that the vessels that used to transit the Panama Canal will have to omit this passage to safeguard the water levels in the Gatun Lake. During this time, all cargo will be transported on a “land bridge” that will cover the 80km crossing via rail.

With the current operational conditions in Australia, we will be adding a new weekly port call in Brisbane, Australia to replace the current port call in Sydney, Australia, which will be removed from the service rotation.

With your cargo planning in mind, please note that these are temporary schedule changes until the conditions allow free transit through the Panama Canal again. Similarly, we will continue to monitor the operational conditions in Australia to review our rotation.

Impact to the service
The 11 vessels on the service will be maintained but split into two loops:

  • The Pacific loop will maintain the present calls in Oceania, but add a call in Balboa, Panama where the vessels will turn around and sail back to Oceania.
  • The Atlantic loop will similarly add a call in Manzanillo, Panama, where we will have a discharge call followed by a load call.
  • The two loops will be connected by the Panama Canal Rail Service between Balboa and Manzanillo. Reefers will remain under power during the transit.
  • To protect the transit time to the US East Coast, we will be omitting Cartagena, Colombia.

For your reference, we have included below the current and new rotation.

  • Current service rotation: Philadelphia, US – Charleston, US – Balboa, PA – Tauranga, NZ – Sydney, AU – Melbourne, AU – Port Chalmers, NZ – Tauranga, NZ – Manzanillo, PA – Philadelphia, US
  • New Service rotation: Philadelphia, US – Charleston, US – Manzanillo, PA/Balboa, PA – Tauranga, NZ – Brisbane, AU – Melbourne, AU – Port Chalmers, NZ – Tauranga, NZ – Balboa, PA/Manzanillo, PA – Philadelphia, US

  • MV Maersk Bali 352S/405N will be the first vessel calling Brisbane, Australia directly.
