The current security situation in and around the Arabian Gulf is affecting vessel movements and port operations across the region, which may impact your shipments to and from several countries in the area.

The safety of our crews, vessels, cargo, and operations remains our top priority.

Impacted countries

Operations may be affected for shipments to and from the following countries:

  • United Arab Emirates
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Kuwait
  • Qatar
  • Bahrain
  • Iraq
  • Oman

What this means for your cargo

  • Schedule disruptions are expected, including changes to port calls and transit times.
  • Cargo may be delayed until operations can proceed safely.
  • Some vessels may be held in safe waters until it is possible to proceed.
  • No alternative discharge ports have been designated at this stage.
  • Delivery timelines may therefore be extended.
  • Customers are advised to assess shipment requirements carefully in light of the current uncertainty and fluid developments.

Additional booking restrictions may be introduced at short notice depending on operational developments.

Booking and cargo acceptance

Booking acceptance is being reviewed continuously as the situation evolves.

Please note:

  • Shipment planning should take the current situation into account.
  • Changes to port calls and transit times may occur.
  • Booking restrictions are currently in place for reefer cargo and Intra-Middle East (MM) trades.
  • Cargo may be delayed until operations can safely resume.
  • All other cargo types remain open at present but may be subject to change at short notice.
  • All bookings are subject to the War Risk Surcharge (WRS) as previously announced.
  • Additional surcharges may be introduced for specific ports (including Jeddah) due to operational constraints.
  • Reefer cargo from India to ports within the affected region is currently not being accepted for loading.

Additional measures may be introduced at short notice depending on developments.

We are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant authorities and partners to minimize disruption and resume normal operations as soon as conditions allow.

Updates will be provided via our website as more information becomes available. For urgent inquiries, please contact your local Hapag-Lloyd representative.
