Ports & Inland Europe Portugal

***Live Ticker: Last Update December 10, 2025***

A nationwide general strike has been announced for 11 December 2025 by the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers (CGTP), the country’s largest trade union federation, and the General Union of Workers (UGT). The action is scheduled in protest of government-proposed labour law reforms and may cause further disruptions across the country, including impacts on port operations.

We would like to inform you about upcoming strike actions affecting ports in Portugal over the coming weeks, which may lead to operational disruptions. While the full impact is not yet clear, we are closely monitoring the situation and working to minimize any effect on your shipments.

These strikes will impact port operations across mainland Portugal on the following dates:

  • November 21–22, 2025
  • November 25–26, 2025
  • November 28–29, 2025
  • December 2–4, 2025
  • December 9, 2025
  • December 12–13, 2025

Disruptions to port operations are expected during the mentioned periods. At this stage, the full extent of the impact cannot yet be determined. We anticipate that vessel operations may experience delays or rescheduling, and terminal activities could be reduced.

We are closely monitoring developments and coordinating with the affected ports to mitigate potential effects on your cargo flows. Service availability may vary by port and strike period.
