Update on HHLA CTA Terminal Operations in Hamburg
The modernization of the HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) in Hamburg is progressing according to plan.
As part of this initiative, new remotely operated ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes will be delivered and installed between mid May and July 2026.
During this period, temporary adjustments to traffic flows and terminal access routes are expected. The construction phase may lead to increased operational complexity and longer handling and waiting times.
To support stable operations during this phase, we kindly ask you to consider the following measures:
Use alternative ports where possible instead of Hamburg CTA:
Reduce container dwell times:
- Import: ensure timely cargo pick-up
- Export: avoid early delivery of containers
These measures will help to minimize congestion and maintain operational stability.
Please note that temporary service deviations cannot be ruled out and will be communicated if necessary.
