Important Information Regarding Current Rail Network Disruptions in Germany
We would like to inform you about the current operational situation affecting rail transportation across Germany and the Hamburg hinterland network.
Due to a combination of major infrastructure works, limited diversion capacities, and several unexpected operational incidents within the German rail network, the overall situation for rail freight transport has become increasingly challenging in recent weeks.
The current disruptions particularly affect:
- Northern Germany and the Hamburg hinterland area
- Main North-South rail corridors
- Connections via Hannover, Maschen, Bremen, and Southern Germany
- Various port terminal connections
As a consequence, the following impacts may occur:
- Delays in rail departures and arrivals
- Last-minute operational changes and rebookings
- Extended transit times
- Possible rollover situations and missed vessel connections in isolated cases
In addition to the already strained infrastructure situation, a recent derailment in the access area of CTA Hamburg (Container Terminal Altenwerder) is expected to further aggravate the operational environment significantly.
At present, the full operational impact and duration of the resulting restrictions cannot yet be reliably assessed. However, further delays, congestion, terminal bottlenecks, and disruptions to rail operations in and around the Port of Hamburg are to be expected.
Together with our rail operators and service partners, we are continuously monitoring the situation and working intensively to minimize the operational impact wherever possible.
However, due to the current network conditions, we kindly ask for your understanding that short-term disruptions and delays may unfortunately remain unavoidable for the time being.
Our teams remain fully committed to providing proactive communication and finding the best possible transport solutions for your shipments.
Thank you for your understanding and continued cooperation.
