First Hapag-Lloyd branded train now travelling through Canada

Since November 2021, the Hapag-Lloyd brand has no longer been exclusively seen in Canada on containers being used for domestic transport. To commemorate our long-standing partnership, the Canadian railway company Canadian Pacific has dedicated a very special locomotive to Hapag-Lloyd.

This event was also special for the railway company, which repainted one of its locomotives in the colours of a customer for the first time in its 140-year history. This extraordinary gesture was meant to honour Hapag-Lloyd as its most important container service customer and to commemorate the joint efforts to launch the service in Port Saint John, New Brunswick, in Eastern Canada.

The formal ceremony took place back in November. The locomotive will now travel throughout Canada, proudly displaying Hapag-Lloyd's branding .

Uffe Ostergaard, president of Hapag-Lloyd in North America, who attended the ceremony, said: “We have a great partnership with Canadian Pacific and their team. A lot of good people keep our cargo moving. It was a privilege to spend time with the train driver who runs this locomotive and also to get such a close look at the operations of our all-important domestic business. We will enjoy this partnership for a long time to come.”
