Here’s an Update on Container Security Deposits in Kenya

We would like to inform you that our Kenya office will stop issuing invoices for container deposits. Instead, from July 28, 2021, we will proceed with a Security Cheque Deposit at the counter. Please keep in mind that this procedure is applicable to our counters in Mombasa and Nairobi.

To ensure a smooth process, please bring the Banker’s cheque upon the pickup of your container release / Delivery Order. For your reference, please note below the table in US Dollars for your deposit’s amount calculation per container type and size:

Please note that the following requirements related to the Security Cheque Deposit:

  • We will only accept Bankers’ cheques.
  • Cheques must be crossed and on the name of “Hapag-Lloyd Kenya Limited”, to be brought together with all documents for DO release request.
  • The cheques will not be cashed for 30 days. If the container is not returned within 30 days, Hapag-Lloyd reserves the right to cash these cheques. Please note that there is no change in the Refund procedure.
  • Once the container is returned on time (within DO validity period) at our nominated depots, and after any pending charges (including container damages, if any) have been cleared, the Security Cheque will be returned upon presentation of all the related documents at the counter.

If you should require additional information, please contact our customer service team at your location who will guide you based on your individual situation.
