An Operational Recovery Surcharge (OCR) for African ports is coming up

An Operational Recovery Surcharge (OCR) is coming into effect for various locations to and from Africa. The OCR will be in effect from January 1, 2024 and is applicable to all containers and cargo types until further notice. For North America, this OCR will take effect from January 21, 2024.

The details for this OCR are listed below:

  • USD 500 per TEU Dry & Special container
  • USD 750 per TEU Reefer container

Except to and from Port Sudan:

  • EUR 500 per TEU Dry & Special container
  • EUR 750 per TEU Reefer container

For the following geographical pairs:

  • Europe, Latin and North America to Port Sudan, Djibouti, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Maputo
  • West Africa to Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, Indian Subcontinent, Port Sudan, Djibouti, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Maputo (except MIA service)
  • West Africa to Asia (except AWA service)
  • Port Sudan and Djibouti to Arabian Gulf, Red Sea and Indian Subcontinent
  • Port Sudan and Djibouti to Asia

 

 

The details for this OCR are listed below:

  • USD 750 per 20’ container
  • USD 1500 per 40’ container

Except to and from Port Sudan:

  • EUR 750 per 20’ container
  • EUR 1500 per 40’ container

For the following geographical pairs:

  • Port Sudan, Djibouti, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Maputo to Europe, Latin and North America
  • Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, Indian Subcontinent, Port Sudan, Djibouti, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Maputo to West Africa (except
    MIA service)
  • Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, Indian Subcontinent and South Africa to Port Sudan and Djibouti
  • South Africa to Red Sea
  • South Africa to South Europe
