Supply Chain Day 2018: Hapag-Lloyd to host “open house” in Ballin House

Events scheduled for April 19 / Lectures on container shipping / Launch of book by Captain Peter Rößler

This year, Hapag-Lloyd will once again be participating in Supply Chain Day with an extensive program at the Ballin House in Hamburg. During the day, visitors will have an opportunity to attend a range of events in the company’s historic headquarters building, which houses roughly 900 employees of the world’s fifth-largest liner shipping company. Presentations will give guests not only an overview of the history of Hapag-Lloyd, but also insights into the challenges that the container shipping industry is facing today.

In the evening of Supply Chain Day, Hapag-Lloyd Captain Peter Rößler will host a launch party for his new book “Luv und Lee in schwerer See” (“Windward and Leeward in Rough Seas”). Rößler is currently captain of the “Valparaíso Express,” a 10,500 TEU container ship commissioned by Hapag-Lloyd at the end of 2016. He will describe his various adventures on board both cargo and cruise ships during his reading, and then take questions from the audience.
To register for the events, please visit the corresponding website (www.tag-der-logistik.de/en) of the German Logistics Association (BVL), the organizer of this annual event being held this year for the 11th time.
Once a year, hundreds of logistics companies throughout Europe allow people to get a behind-the-scenes look at the diverse array of logistical tasks and related career opportunities. In 2017, approximately 40,000 people attended some 400 events in 20 countries.
