Shipping to and from West Africa or within the Mediterranean? Here’s an update for our WAX service
If you are shipping to and from West Africa or within the Mediterranean, please note that our West Africa Express (WAX) service will operate with an updated port rotation starting in September 2026.
The revised service will introduce a direct connection between Damietta, Egypt, and key West African ports, while maintaining connectivity within the Mediterranean.
The updated service will provide:
- Direct connections from Damietta and Valencia to key West African ports and vice versa
- Connectivity at Damietta with other Hapag-Lloyd services calling the port
- A direct connection from Türkiye to Valencia
- Casablanca coverage through a separate feeder product, with cargo connecting via Valencia
- Greater operational flexibility and increased schedule reliability
The new port rotation will be as follows:
- Damietta, EG –> Izmit, TR –> Gemlik, TR –> Istanbul, TR –> Valencia, ES –> Tangier, MA –> Lagos (Tincan/Apapa), NG –> Onne, NG –> Cotonou, BJ –> Tema, GH –> Lome, TG –> Tangier, MA –> Barcelona, ES –> Damietta, EG
