Montreal, Canada – Implementation of Low Water Surcharge

The St. Lawrence River water levels have decreased considerably, with latest forecasts by the Canadian Coast Guard predicting further reductions.

Effective January 15, 2020, Hapag-Lloyd will implement a Low Water Surcharge for all cargo moving to/via the port of Montreal as follows:

St. Lawrence Cont. Service – Route 1 (AT1) and 2 (AT2) - westbound

USD 100 per 20' Container
USD 150 per 40' Container

Mediterranean Canada Service (MCA) - westbound

USD 75 per 20' Container
USD 100 per 40' Container


We reserve the right to increase these levels on short notice, should water levels decline beyond current forecast levels.
