The German Train Drivers' Union (GDL) union called on its members to take nationwide strike action against DB Cargo on September 01, 2021, at 5 p.m. Passenger services and infrastructure will go on strike from September 02, 2021, at 2 a.m. According to the latest information, the strike measures will end on September 07, 2021, at 2 a.m., but may be extended or restarted later depending on the agreement reached by the parties. We assume that the strike will bring restrictions to inland operation, especially railway infrastructure and equipment availability, despite all measures taken. Your cargo planning might be affected as well.
While we cannot influence the current situation, please be sure to reach out to your customer service contact at your location to discuss possible solutions for your cargo planning. We apologize for any delays or inconveniences. Thank you for your understanding that Hapag-Lloyd AG will not be liable for any costs resulting from the strike as stated in the bill of lading’s terms and conditions.
We will continue to keep you updated on any information on further developments when they are made available.
