Step by step, here we detail the process for shipping dangerous goods in Spain
In order to provide better guidance regarding the shipment of dangerous goods, we are sharing the procedure to follow below:
- Send your booking request with the dangerous goods (DG) information through your channel.
- In order to expedite your booking confirmation, immediately send the IMO documentation to [email protected] with the booking number in the subject line.
- If our Booking Creation team cannot find this documentation when confirming the booking, they will send you an email requesting it. If our team does not receive therequested documentation within 48 hours, the booking will be canceled due to lack of documentation.
- The IMO documentation must be sent in English (and in PDF format),including the following details:
- DGD Dangerous Goods Declaration, which must specify thecorrect number of packages (internal and external); net and gross weights; type of packaging; UN number; Class; Specific and chemical name of the goods (proper Shipping and chemical name); 24-hour emergencytelephone number; flash point (if applicable) and determine whether the cargo is classified as a limited quantity or marine pollutant.
- MDGF Multimodal Dangerous Goods Form, which must includeexactly the same information as the DGD.
- MSDS - Material Safety Data Sheet.
- Once the documentation has been received, our team will enter it in order to begin the approval process.
- The IMO approval process with the shipowner usually takes between 48 and 72 hours from the time of entry. Certain dangerous goods are even automatically approved.
- Once the IMDG Code is accepted, you will receive an update to your Booking Once the IMDG Code is accepted, you will receive an update to your Booking Confirmation. Please note that additional information may be requested even after the container has been loaded and/or shipped. Additionally, transshipment and destination ports may require other documentation or information in order to obtain approval for the container to be loaded onto transshipment vessels or for it to be unloaded.
